First Sunday Lesson - September

Bishop wanted us to understand the importance of Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy so that was the focus of this month's first Sunday lesson.

The commandment is found in Exodus 20:8-11 and D&C 59:9. Please see the amazing BLESSINGS that come by keeping this commandment, especially in Leviticus 26:2-6, 9. With wickedness all around us, one of the greatest blessings of the Sabbath is that it provides a sanctuary for our families.

One of the keys to successfully living this commandment is to PLAN for it.  Prepare, work, exercise, shop, cook, clean and study on the other six days.

 Charles Didier said,
“To have a true, protected, spiritual Sabbath experience, why not plan a family Sabbath schedule and be prepared with activities that are in harmony with Sunday worship, asking ourselves how our activities will strengthen us spiritually and not only please the Lord but also make us happy and stronger in our relationship with the Lord.”

Worshiping the Lord and remembering His atoning sacrifice is central to our Sabbath observance.  Let's review our activities and select one or two things we can do to more fully keep the Sabbath holy.
