WOW! We have a great reading assignment for this week :)

Keep reading Chapter 3 of Daughters in My Kingdom- and then get started on Chapter 4! Also don't forget to read chapter 20 in our RS manual and the Sunday School Assignment :) We won't see everyone this week because of our Stake Conference. Remember- it is at the new building on 900 E and 300 W. 1 pm! Don't miss a General Authority-- Elder Callister will be there!

Relief Society Broadcast

         General Relief Society Meeting to Be Held September 29, 2012

Aren't you excited?? Here are some great reasons to be getting excited about this Relief Society Broadcast on Saturday!

#1. We have a new General Presidency!! We can get to know who they are!!

#2. The Prophet always speaks- to the Relief Society sisters specifically- what a blessing!

#3. The spirit always is there if you come prepared

#4. It will be broadcast in your own church building- from 6pm until 8pm!

#5. Refreshments. Always a good thing.

#6. It will be an awesome way to prepare for General Conference in a few weeks

We hope you all can make it. If you cannot, it will be on LDS.org and I think it will also be live on BYUtv.

What is gifts of the heart? is a great program sponsored by the MBA wives association.  They have collected children's clothing, and everything you might need for baby and mom.  It's all free for students and spouses. 

How often does it happen? Every few months.

When can I donate? They are accepting donations on Friday night or Saturday morning, dropped off at that location.

LESSON and ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear sisters,

The lesson today in RS was Chapter 12 in the George Albert Smith Manual. The title is " An Enthusiastic Desire to Share the Gospel ''.

I am including below a few important points from the lesson.

-What actions can we take to be called missionaries?

        -Be a friend to members and non members

        -Have positive feelings about people around you

-Reasons why we need to share the gospel

       -We love our neighbors

       -The world needs what we have

                   -Eternal families

                   -The knowledge that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are one and have physical bodies

                   -Priesthood authority and sacred ordinances

Tiffany Driggers shared her conversion story. She said that the key of her conversion was the love and care that the missionaries and members of the church showed to her.

Rebecca Balinski shared a story from her mission. One day, during her mission, she felt she needed to stop and talk to a man who was standing in the street. Apparently, this man started having a great love for Jesus Christ, the BOM, and the church. He showed his love by being very enthusiastic about the Gospel, always attending church, and carring the BOM everywhere with him.

Stake Relief Society Annual Conference

The day we have all been waiting for, the Annual Relief Society Stake Conference will be on Saturday! It should be inspiring, fun, and overall wonderful. Elder Baxter, of the Seventy, and his wife will be speaking, as well as the choir that includes some of our sisters! If you want to join the choir, we will be having one last practice Saturday at 8.  Please check with your visiting teachees to make sure they know about the conference and invite them to attend! It would be wonderful if you had the chance before the conference to read the 'Guardians of the Hearth' chapter in Daughters of my Kingdom. Remember these simple details:

Mommy 101

A lot of us have the opportunity to become mothers for the first time here at

Wymount! A panel of moms who have been around the block a few times, and

some who have kids and are still here in Wymount will answer questions

sisters have and tell them what they’d wished they’d known when they were

first-time moms.

Joy in Journaling

This class will explain you don’t have to journal the way your grandmother did

to have an effective, spiritual and valuable record.

Enhance Your Scripture Study

A newlywed sister is going to explain how she makes the scriptures come alive

for herself and for the students she teachers in Seminary. Don’t put off

becoming a true scripture studier until you’re old! Now’s the time!

Circle of Sisterhood

Another topic highlighted in Daughters in My Kingdom, you’ll hear how sisters

from around the world can support and benefit one another. Then you’ll have

the same opportunity to show that support to another sister. Make a cute

bracelet for yourself and another for a sister you want to include in the circle.

Organizing Your Home

Ever wonder how you could possibly fit everything you and your husband (and

maybe baby) own into these tiny apartments? You aren’t the first. Back by

popular demand, Alice Osborne will teach how to have a place for everything

and everything in its place with her inspired organizing tips.

We hope to see as many of you there as we can! Since babysitting is not provided, feel free to bring your kids.

Sisters Stake Volleyball!!!

Sisters, the Stake will be doing an all Women Sport again starting on the 7th of March. There will be 4 Wednesday night games. Our Ward will be paired up with different wards this year. We hope those of you who are interested will attend!!!! (See schedule)

January Message

Sisters,

As we begin a new semester and a new year, several of us with new visiting teaching assignments due to move-ins and move-outs, let us show our discipleship by truly loving and ministering to those we visit teach. We remind you of what Sister Beck said in last September’s General Relief Society Meeting:

       There have been times when sisters have focused more on completing visits, teaching lessons, and leaving notices when they have stopped by their sisters’ homes. These practices have helped sisters learn patterns of watchcare. Just as people in the time of Moses concentrated on keeping long lists of rules, the sisters of Relief Society have at times imposed many written and unwritten rules upon themselves in their desire to understand how to strengthen one another.

      With so much need for relief and rescue in the lives of sisters and their families today, our Heavenly Father needs us to follow a higher path and demonstrate our discipleship by sincerely caring for His children…. Now visiting teachers have the responsibility to “sincerely come to know and love each sister, help her strengthen her faith, and give service.”

      As committed disciples of the Savior, we are improving in our ability to do the things He would do if He were here. We know that to Him it is our caring that counts, and so we are trying to concentrate on caring about our sisters rather than completing lists of things to do. True ministry is measured more by the depth of our charity than by the perfection of our statistics. We will know we are successful in our ministry as visiting teachers when our sisters can say, “My visiting teacher helps me grow spiritually” and “I know that my visiting teacher cares deeply about me and my family” and “If I have problems, I know my visiting teacher will take action without waiting to be invited.”

        We encourage you to counsel with your companions and with the Lord to know what you can do to better love and serve those under your care. The Spirit will be with you and both you and those you visit will be blessed. We are so grateful for all that you are already doing to strengthen and support one another.
